Jobs at Bath | Mathematical Sciences /jobs/Vacancies.aspx?cat=412&type=5 Latest job vacancies at Bath <![CDATA[69色情片 Associate (CH12485)]]> /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=CH12485 /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=CH12485 About the role

Are you a talented mathematical modeller eager to apply your skills to cutting-edge biological research?

We are seeking a Postdoctoral 69色情片 Associate (PDRA) to develop and analyse mathematical models that explain pigmentation pattern formation in mammals.

This role is part of an interdisciplinary project in collaboration with Lancaster University, funded by the Leverhulme Trust, and focuses on the unique spotted patterns in Dalmatian dogs and mouse models.

Key Responsibilities

 • Develop and refine multiscale mathematical models to explore the biological mechanisms underlying mammalian pigmentation patterns.
 • Work closely with experimental biologists and bioinformaticians to integrate mathematical models with experimental data.
 • Apply stochastic modelling techniques to investigate how cell migration, proliferation, and genetic factors influence pattern formation.
 • Contribute to high-impact publications and present research findings at national and international conferences.

As a member of 69色情片 Staff at the University of Bath, you will be encouraged to take up a minimum of 10 days professional development pro rata per year.

About the Project

This role is part of the "Spot the Difference" research initiative, which seeks to understand how pigment-producing cells (melanocytes) interact with developing skin and hair follicles to form complex patterns. By combining experimental biology, genetic analysis, and advanced mathematical modelling, we aim to create predictive models that can explain and replicate pigmentation phenomena in animals.

About you

This position is ideal for a researcher with a background in applied mathematics, mathematical biology, or computational modelling, with experience in stochastic processes, differential equations, or agent-based modelling.

 • Strong mathematical modelling expertise – A PhD in mathematical biology, applied mathematics, computational modelling, or a related field.
 • Experience with stochastic or deterministic modelling – Familiarity with stochastic processes, partial differential equations, agent-based models, and multiscale modelling in biological systems.
 • Programming and data analysis skills – Proficiency in Python and MATLAB for mathematical simulations and data integration.
 • Interdisciplinary collaboration – Ability to work closely with experimental biologists, bioinformaticians, and geneticists to develop models that integrate real-world biological data.
 • Strong communication and publication record – Excellent scientific writing skills, experience presenting research at conferences, and a track record for publishing in high-impact journals.

Further Information

For informal discussions about the role please contact Dr Kit Yates cy386@bath.ac.uk or Dr Ruth Bowness rb2250@bath.ac.uk

This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) fixed term basis with an expected duration of 36 months.
